GNA Biosolutions (start-up from our Chair) receives authorization for a fast PCR-based Corona test
30.12.2020
More than ten years ago, our PhD-students Joachim Stehr and Federico Bürsgens thought about developing and commercializing a novel diagnostic tool. The idea was related to our research results on light-controled heating and melting of DNA double strands attached to gold nanoparticles (so-called 'plasmonic nano-stoves'). Now an ultrafast and portable PCR-based testing system 'GNA Octea' for SARS-CoV-2 has been developed by their company GNA Biosolutions and, most importantly, has received authorization for use by German Health Authorities.
