Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution on Surface Modified Carbon Nitride – Keep The Energy Up!
25.11.2024
We demonstrated that carbon nitride (C₃N₄), a widely studied material in electrochemistry and photocatalysis, exhibits significantly enhanced H₂ production from water when combined with small amounts of iron phosphor trisulfide (FePS₃). This enhancement is driven by the formation of an S-scheme mechanism, which effectively integrates the characteristics of a pn-junction and a type-II band alignment. The S-scheme ensures efficient charge separation while preserving the energy of the free electrons and holes, thereby optimizing the photocatalytic process.
